Brittle Nail Care Routine

Hey beautiful, welcome to the Beauty Matched Blog! Today I will be discussing all things nail care. I did a poll today on Instagram and it looks like a lot of people go to get manicures at nails salons, but with lock downs what better time to share my stay at home nail care routine then now!

I have had brittle nails for as long as I can remember, they would bend, crack and never get the chance to get long enough for them to look pretty. This is why I've been on the hunt for the perfect brittle nail care routine for many years and I have finally found the perfect products to help me achieve my dream nails!

Nail Strengthening Base Coat

Where the magic started - L'oreal Peppermint Oil Strengthening Base Coat. I have never finished a nail polish before, and I am almost out of this one! I bought this nail strengthener by mistake one day and it has made my nails unbreakable (almost). The way I started using it and I recommend you try is applying it as a nail treatment. Start by applying one coat of this a day for 7 days, then remove and do the same thing for week 2. Continue doing this until you find your nails are ready for this to be used as intended - a base coat underneath nail polish.

Nail Polish

After I stumbled on that L'oreal base coat and started to see result, I immediately ran back to the drugstore and purchased 2 nail colors from the same line Colour Riche Oil-Infused Nail Polish.

If you know me, you know that when I really enjoy something I get multiples of it, so now I have a collection of 10 different colors from the line. For most colors one to two coats is enough to get opaque color pay off, and the best part is they last on my nails for about 4-6 days without chipping!

Top Coat

I am currently using the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat - Shiny Brilliant (Step 2). This is the newest addiction to my collection and I am still playing around with this top coat, but my best friend who has the nicest nails I've ever seen swears by it so I am determined to get the hang of it! As of right now I can report that it does make my nails super shiny. I am just looking for it to make my nail polish look "gel-like" for more than two days. There is a learning curve with how much to apply and the steps to do before starting the entire nail routine to help this product adhere best, I will keep you guys posted on how I make it work.
